Does my child have asthma?

It is not uncommon for young children to have wheezing and difficulty in breathing with cough when they get viral upper respiratory tract infections. Usually they respond to bronchodilator inhalers which relaxes the smallest wind pipes in the lungs and make them feel better over the next few days. They may also need steroids in some cases.  Nearly 1/3 of these children grow out this condition by the time they start school and another 1/3 when they leave school.

Seek advice, if:

  1. symptoms persist all the time

  2. they have other allergies, hay fever, eczema

  3. family h/o of asthma and allergies
